David Cunliffe tipped to quit Labour race

Bolstering Andrew Little to counter David Parker.  Why are labour MPs only politically savy when they fight each other?

Narrowing the race to three competitors makes it more likely the end result will be definitive. But it remains to be seen whether Cunliffe’s endorsement will help or hinder Andrew Little.

2:26pm, David Cunliffe has confirmed that he is withdrawing from the leadership contest, and has endorsed Andrew Little. Cunliffe is determined to remain an MP.

Nominations for leader close tomorrow and there’s still speculation David Shearer could throw his hat in. It seems very improbable now. I think we have the final three candidates.

More on this as it develops.
