Bill Hicks, the Influential dead

Bill Hicks was an American comedian who became popular in the late 80s, early 90s as a no-holds-barred funnyman. He delivered hysterical and uncensored commentary on everything from smoking to pornography, and he died aged just 32 in 1994.

YouTube has meant that he has seen something of a revival, and he has even become something of a cult figure. Where many comedian’s material from yesteryear has dated and fallen from public consciousness, Bill Hicks has remained remarkably resilient. This is a lesson as much for aspiring comedian’s as viewers.

One of his best shows (but only one in a substantial youtube collection) can be found here.
