Conscience interruption

Ever get a bit too stuck in your own head? So do I, fortunately my conscience interrupts me after a while and this sort of thing happens:

Scribble, scribble, scribble

[Conscience]
“Um, Joe?”

Scribble, scribble, stop!

[Joe]
“Yeah?”

“Are you ever gonna update your blog?”

[Joe]
“Shhh, I’m writing.”

Scribble, scribble, scribble

[Conscience]
“Really?”

Looks down at piles of blank paper; idle computer screens blinking, equally blank and betrayed.

[Joe]
“Oh. I was writing in my head again.”

[Conscience]
“Oh well, that’s better than nothing. Is it good stuff?”

[Joe]
“I can’t remember.”

 [Conscience]
“I see. Time to come back  to the world I think.”

[Joe]
“Yeah. How long was it this time?”

[Conscience]
“Just a few weeks…”

Introducing BoonCast Episode 1: Featuring Michael Howard

The podcast project finally debuts! Michael Howard, a Wellington-based performance poet agreed to be my first guest and thus help me stumble over a new threshold. A great conversation (I say so because we continued to chat for another hour afterwards, a healthy omen!), we discuss his introduction to poetry, his writing process, and are treated to a recitation at the end.
